Sponsorship policy

Last updated: 2026-10-21

Some lists can be presented by a sponsor for a few weeks — for example "Restaurant of the Week presented by …". A sponsor pays for visibility next to the list. It never pays for a place in it.

What a sponsor gets

  • Its name, logo and a link in a strip at the top of the list's pages, marked Sponsored.
  • "Presented by" with its name or logo on the public winner certificates of the sponsored weeks.
  • A "presented by" line next to the list in our Monday emails (followed items, prediction game results).

What a sponsor never gets

  • Any influence on votes, places, trends or winners. The ranking is counted by the database, which does not read sponsorships at all.
  • Any say over which items are in the list, their descriptions, pictures or verified ticks.
  • Any data about voters: no IP addresses, emails or other personal data. Only the clicks on its own link reach it, tagged as coming from us.
  • Any change to items' own pages or their winner kits: owners' Pro pages and print kits stay in their own brand.

Who can sponsor

  • Lists not open to sponsors: Politician of the Week, Political Party of the Week.
  • Not someone who competes in the list: a restaurant cannot present Restaurant of the Week, a club cannot present Team of the Week.
  • Not political parties, candidates or campaigns, tobacco and e-cigarettes, gambling, adult content, weapons, or anything illegal in the EU.
  • One sponsor per list and week. We may end a sponsorship that breaks this policy at once.

How it is labelled

Every place a sponsor appears says Sponsored or "presented by", and links to this page. Links to a sponsor are marked as paid links (rel="sponsored").
